When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore. I don’t know who originally wrote this song, but the only time I’ve ever heard of someone getting hit in the face with a pizza, they were left with horrible second degree burns, which isn’t something to joke about let alone write a love song. Actually, I might be thinking of a 90’s show on Nickelodeon.
On the previous edition of Badvertising, we looked at Digiorno’s ineffectual ad campaign that had to exaggerate its competition in order to look good. Today’s bad commercial comes from Pizza Hut, showing off the new line of specialty pizzas. And how did they decide to showcase those pizzas?
They went to Italy of course! What better than to get the approval of real old-world Italians to show that your pizza is the good stuff. They didn’t, whether these are real people or actors.
So Pizza Hut decided to spin the commercial into a “look at the old people. They don’t like our pizza, they also don’t like jeggings and electronic dance music.” The one old guy at the end said it was good, but not real pizza, so there’s at least one thumb up.
Frankly I agree with the old people. Jeggings are a ridiculous concept and EDM isn’t real music, so by the commercial’s logic it stands that Pizza Hut’s new pizzas are probably disgusting.
Thanks Pizza Hut, you’ve convinced me not to try your new products.
